Great, now I really need one... oh and a 7.1 DTS-HD amp and two more speakers....
The next firmware update for Sony's PlayStation 3 should please those who use the console's Blu-ray capabilities to watch movies.
Version 2.30 will bring DTS-HD Master Audio technology to the PS3, improving the sound quality for owners up to HD standards for those with the correct kit.
DTS-HD can deliver 7.1 audio channel, which is said to be identical to the studio master with 96k/24-bit sound.
"PS3 was designed to enable delivery of new and improved technologies like DTS-HD Master Audio", said a top Sony bod, "So we are delighted to be able to offer this capability to PS3 users".
The new firmware will be available to download as a free upgrade on 15 April 2008.

LOL yeah I hear you, I just need decent sound with optical in/out at the moment my gear sounds ok but it could sound way better. apparently they're doing a store revamp in that patch and the fanboys are hoping for the Home beta to come with the April 15th patch. I'd be happy with a store revamp as I'm not a real big fan of the current one. _________________ There's only one Return and it ain't of the King it's of the Jedi!

The store revamp was great, they also added support for WMV movies over 2GB.
The only problem is that the WMV's now play but without any sound - wth ?? _________________

Yeah, it is really weird. The Ps3 tells me that the files have no audio. I havnt had a chance to check into whether it a bug or intentional. _________________

From what I have read the PS3 does not support WMA-Pro, could be the case.

Don't you hate these half upgrades! Like the 360 plays MP4 and h264 and AC3, but not if they are contained in an MKV file! Agggggggggggggh!!!!!!!!! _________________
