I find it amazing how the story is all of sudden turning around. Ps3 is now a great option instead of overpriced hype ?? FFS - Why do you think most of us bought one, we knew it would do what it said and continue to improve over time. I didnt realise how much this format war had affected sales of the Ps3, look out for it now.
Disney: Playstation 3 was a Trojan Horse for Blu-ray
Speaking to the L.A. Times, a Disney executive stated that the PS3 was a device built in order to penetrate the High Definition Blu-ray format into living rooms. An executive remarked the PS3 was a trojan horse and that Disney's efforts have only just begun in the high definition movie arena.

A Disney exec this week told the L.A. Times that Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3 was a device built to penetrate the high-definition Blu-ray disc format into living rooms.
"The Playstation 3 was a Trojan Horse," said Disney Studios Home Entertainment President Bob Chapek.
Toshiba Corp. on Tues. announced that it would exit the HD DVD business following a rash of support for the Blu-ray disc format.
"Our efforts have only just begun," Chapek said. "We have to get the consumer to make the move from DVD to Blu-ray now that the risk of picking the wrong format is gone."
Each PS3 sold includes a Blu-ray disc drive to play new high-definition format titles.
Prior this week's victory, Blu-ray disc was viewed as a costly burden to the PS3, prohibiting sales with an expensive retail price compared to Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 and Nintendo Co.'s Wii.
Now that consumers know that their purchase will be an investment in the de facto high-definition DVD format, the $399 machine looks more like a value than a overpriced gem.
