Try your 360 with another game.
If it dosnt freeze on them then Forza2 is the issue. If it does freeze then go ballistic at MS _________________

Forza 2 is the only game it freezes in. I have borrowed another game disk tonight to try as a final test before dropping a nuke on em. _________________

so if Forza 2 is the issue (which it seems like it is), will they give you a new console? _________________ If you can't choose, buy them all |

I am going to give them a call shortly and discuss it, might just give it one more night with the borrowed game disk to confirm my suspicions that it may in fact be my worn out game disk, plus Forza's known issues, causing the problems. _________________

From what I've read about game freezing I think Dead Rising is another candidate... if you can, get a hold of that disk to try... I can get another copy of Forza 2 to test if you need Nath?
I think we talked about this before, but my gut feeling is that Forza overclocks the video card to get better performance, so if you can I would try to get a different 360, as I have a funny feeling it's not drive or disk related... this is just a theory mind you, nothing solid to back it up with... it's just after reading all the now deleted forum posts on the topic it reminds me of my experiences overclocking the main processor or overclocking the video card, do you see any image corruption when it freezes, (weird textures or it looks like there is a triangle drawn the wrong size or lines of random dots) or is the image fine?
I had Forza freeze on me a couple of times on Liz's brothers 360, the screen froze, but you could still hear the game playing, engine tone changing relative to what you are doing on the controls, this happened once mid game, with the in game screen frozen and I remember once where it finished loading, so the screen was black with the Forza logo and loading, but the race then started with the screen stuck that way, I think in that case I was able to quit back to the dashboard. _________________ I would like my car to fly and make me breakfast!

That's a nice theory and would stand up. Another one I have read which is similar talks about Forza 2 using 90% of system resources whereas the general limit on developers is around 70%, so as to not overheat the GPU and also apparently the solders do not like heat one little bit and if the GPU is constantly pushed to 90% the solders around the CPU on the GPU starts to crack, which is when the freezing starts...
Anyway..... last night I played for three hours, two on borrowed disk and one on my disk, and didn't have one single freeze! The whole experience was nice and solid!
So.... I have to give back borrowed game disk tonight and will be playing solely on my own disk so we will see if it passes a full night of torture tonight....
There is definately a problem somewhere - so many cases are not co-incidence or bad luck. The problem is, getting a company with US$21,000,000,000,000.00 in clear cash funds sitting in the bank to admit it!
(did anyone read the story about the US$44bn takeover attempt of Yahoo - MS might consider borrowing money for the first time in the company's existence! As they don't want to use all of the US$21bn CASH reserves they have in the bank to buy Yahoo (50%/50% shares and cash offer!!)) That tells me the real size of Microsoft! _________________

Second wave will be, if no response received, to email this letter to your larger gaming news sites, ie, gamespot, pocket-lint, engadget, you know the ones... and see if they are interested in spreading the news to a couple a million RSS subs.... I'm sure it would be news worthy for gamers. Should create some bad publicity and a bit of momentum anyway. _________________

Funnily enough the first section of your post is exactly how three Red rings occur too. There is no doubt in my mind faulty disk drive errors such as freezing, graphical glitches and the red rings of death are all related to Microsofts shoddy design cut backs on there original 360 models coupled with the vast heat non falcon boards produce.
Thankfully zepher boards (additional heatsink, heatpipe and new adhesive glue) and falcon boards (reduced GPU and CPU sizes, additional heatsink) are so far fairing much better, especially falcon 360's.
The only actual disk drive fault i can remember is that of a samsung batch which was actually scratching game disks.
It's great that Microsoft has extended the warranty and hopefully rectified the problem with falcon boards (though there is still the occasional bricked console), but it should have never gotten to this. It's just that with so many good games i and many can't live without it. _________________ If you can't choose, buy them all |

send some mail, and try to get others, to 1up.com and see if they'll mention it on 1upyours (there podcast). If the majority of effected forza fans make a fuss surely they'll make u heard. _________________ If you can't choose, buy them all |
