In an interesting and candid interview, ex Xbox exec Sandy Duncan has told media he expects consoles to be dead in 5 to 10 years due to more and more web based services being offered by content providers.
In fact, he went further to say that a DVD Recorder is not that different from an Xbox 360, and he expects that in 10 years time we will have no boxes under our teles, instead everything being provided by web based content providers.
Yeah, well, maybe 20 years in Oz???
Full sotry here: http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/news/news.phtml/13745/14769/Consoles-will-disappear-in-decade.phtml
Personally, I think someone's pissed at no longer being a M$ Exec LOL... I would love to see Forza 3 running virtually on-demand via broadband from a content provider in 5 years time - yeah right! _________________

Yeah... Urm... Well... Eh.... Someone has told him he is dreaming right? I have no doubt consoles will be different in the future, but gone? Not so sure about that.
I like two things about this post one being "Ex Xbox Exec" fantastic bit of writing there and the Poll option of "Dream on Cowboy" _________________ There's only one Return and it ain't of the King it's of the Jedi!

Or that a DVD Recorder is really not that different from an Xbox 360.... yeah well that's like me saying my Commodore is really not that different from a Lamborghini Murcielago! _________________

He could be right, we could all be running a rock solid Linux variant on PC's with cheap hardware that either boots into the free open source Sony or Nintendo Console OS, or a full fledged desktop (Mac or Linux Variant) with mail and office applications from Google :) Oh wait, now I'm dreaming... _________________ I would like my car to fly and make me breakfast!
